We are dedicated to supporting you in your goals and aspirations — that's why we created our Old Hickory Credit Union Scholarship! Our scholarships are meant to help graduating high school seniors fund their college education and bright future.

Scholarships — We will be awarding three scholarships, one for $2,500, one for $1,500, and one for $1,000.

OLD HICKORY CREDIT UNION SCHOLARSHIP

 

Purpose

The Scholarship is intended to enhance the higher educational opportunities for a high school graduates who have shown a major interest in business, accounting, or finance during high school, and preference will be given to students who will include those subjects in their college degree as well.  Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, gender, disability or national origin.

Awards

The credit union will be awarding three scholarships. One in the amount of $2,500, one in the amount of $1,500, and one for $1,000. The reward will be applied towards full-time tuition, fees, textbooks, and or other expenses at an accredited college or university.

Eligibility

  • A graduating senior who is a member or the dependent of an OHCU member
  • Member for a period of one year may make application. Students must enroll as a full-time student at an accredited college or university.  
  • Old Hickory Credit Union Board of Directors, employees and dependents are not eligible to participate.
  • Applicants must have earned a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 grade scale.
  • Must submit a signed letter by the school counselor/principal certifying the grade point average and attendance. 
  • Must submit application via our Jotform. Application period is April 18th thru May 31st. Application does include an essay addressing the following topic: Technology has changed in the financial industry over the last ten years. How do you think those changes will affect you as an individual as you manage your finances on your own?

Application Process

The following information about each applicant for the confidential use of the impartial judges is required:

  1. Two non-relative character references (letters of recommendation).
  2. High school transcript information, including ACT/SAT scores (to be verified by the judges)

Selection of Recipient

A committee of impartial judges will select the recipient based on the following factors: Major interest in business, accounting, and/or finance; seriousness of purpose; qualities of citizenship; qualities of leadership; and financial need.

Payment/Supervision

Upon receiving evidence from the recipient’s college that all eligibility requirements have been met, the payment of award will be processed. The payment will be made directly to the college/university in the name of the student.

Deadline

All applications must be submitted to the selection committee by the 31st of May.

Administration

The scholarship program is sponsored and administered by OHCU.
