OLD HICKORY CREDIT UNION SCHOLARSHIP
Purpose
The Scholarship is intended to enhance the higher educational opportunities for high school graduates who have shown a major interest in business, accounting, or finance during high school, and preference will be given to students who will include those subjects in their college degree as well. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, gender, disability or national origin.
Awards
The credit union will be awarding up to seven scholarships in the amount of $1,500.00. The reward will be applied towards full-time tuition, fees, textbooks, and or other expenses at an accredited college or university.
Eligibility

A graduating senior who is a member or the dependent of an OHCU member

Must be a member prior to January 31, 2023. Students must enroll as a full-time student at an accredited college or university.

Old Hickory Credit Union Board of Directors, employees and dependents are not eligible to participate.

Applicants must have earned a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 grade scale.
Application Process
The following information about each applicant for the confidential use of the impartial judges is required:

Two non-relative character references (letters of recommendation).

Sealed High School Transcripts, including SAT/ACT scores authorized by School Official.

Must return all required items at one time at your local OHCU branch. Application period is February 1st thru March 31st. Application does need to include an essay addressing the following topic: Technology has changed in the financial industry over the last ten years. How do you think those changes will affect you as an individual as you manage your finances on your own?
Selection of Recipient
A committee of impartial judges will select the recipient based on the following factors: Major interest in business, accounting, and/or finance; seriousness of purpose; qualities of citizenship; qualities of leadership; and financial need.
Payment/Supervision
Upon receiving evidence from the recipient’s college that all eligibility requirements have been met, the payment of award will be processed. The one-time payment will be made directly to the college/university in the name of the student.
Deadline
All applications must be submitted by the 31st of March.
Administration
The scholarship program is sponsored and administered by OHCU.
